Do Asian - specifically Chinese - women traditionally cut their hair short when they become pregnant

A friend of mine was getting her hair cut and the Chinese lady beside her was berating her hairdresser saying that it had to be shorter. The hairdresser told my friend that it was tradition to cut your hair short if your pregnant in China. I'm wondering if this is true?

No, there is no such thing.

It is a Chinese medical tradition NOT to wash hair for a month after giving birth, therefore it makes sense to cut the hair short while the woman is pregnant, so it is easier to manage when you don't wash the hair for a month.
