make sure to start off with a really short haircut so you can train the hair

1. put grease in your hair

2. brush your hair in sections. think of your head in sections..back: from the center of your head to the nape of the neck.sides: from the center of your head to each of your ears. top: from the center of your head to the hairline.

make sure to brush from the center and out.

sleep with a doorag/wave cap on and you're good to go.

Lately, i just can't make up my mind! My hair is about 4 inches past my shoulders. I want it long, like waist length, but i also want it short, like just above my shoulders. I think it would look cute, and i would be able to cut my layers off. I hate layers(my layers).. But if i had it long it would be.. long! But then again, it would be harder to care for and i really don't have the time to do that.. But everyone says i should grow my hair long because my hair is short already.. but it's not that short! It's like mid-length.

So I say, depends on what type of hair you have...if it is easy to care for in the first place then take a chance and cut it short.

My hair is very think and curly...I tried cutting it all off short both above like halle barry and at shoulder length but it just kept looking like a fro because it's naturally curly...I could straighten it but that took alot more of my time. So now I have no choice but to leave the length long(right now it goes past my waist even when curly, so can you image how much longer it is if it were straight)so that all the weight makes it stay down instead of fluff back up into a fro if I cut it short again...there is nothing wrong with having a fro hairstyle, I know some women enjoy it, but it's not for me, I kept feeling like when everyone was staring at me hair because it was so big and high, the same feeling you have when you get a zit and you feel like everyone is staring at it!

I'm a big fan of having short hair. It's so much easier to deal with. Just keep in mind that if it's too short you won't be able to put it up. Occasionally I miss being able to put my hair in a ponytail or bun.

DO NOT CU IT SHORTTT! i have really poofy hair too, and i made that mistake once, and i would never do it again. it was horrible!!!!!! if i were you i would cut it like 2 inches past the shoulder, and get it layger/thinnned...alot. and then straight it when needed. thats what i do.

actually, you will make it worse if you cut it shorter. Poofy hair needs to be weighed down in order to make it less poofy. i recommend paul mitchell super skinny shampoo and condition (and perhaps the serum) to make your hair less poofy. but that alone wont help, you have to straighten it afterwards. good luck, i feel your pain

i have very poofy hair and i think that the poof will get worse if you cut it short, i suggest getting it thinned with a razor brush not thinning shears make sure of that, and then maybe a trim and oil treatment that way when your hair poofs it will be alittle more tamed and it will still have pretty curls.

as an experienced salon owner I think you might have a point regarding the walk in salon, without seeing a picture of the finished style its hard to say, was it scissor cut, clipper cut, razor cut, however you should not be experiencing the problems you have the next day, sounds like it was textured cut, and the cut was against the hair, if I was you I would certainly be back to complain, tell me more about how it was cut, and why was it cut so short was it because the stylist could not get it right, or was it what you asked for ???

You're just going to have to use products to smooth and straighten your hair. If your hair was really long before it may be wavy now because there's not as much weight, so it curls instead of laying straight. It really has nothing to do with the fact that you went to a walk-in hairstylist. The same thing probably would have happened if you went to an expensive salon.

If u do start drying and straightening get a good shampoo and conditioner, beacuse all that drying and straightening drys your hair out bad! (Well it did for mine!) I recommend 'advanced techniques' straight and sleek shampoo and conditioner. Hair serum and things like that are ok but not as good as they are made out to be.
